Let's see how convert a physical machine to virtual machine compatible with virtualbox to have it available in a virtualized environment and accessible by any user.
In my case it was useful to migrate a physical machine that had a ASUS Barebone in a server HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 and so stop using my physical machine. From now on I will work on the HP server, but this time virtualized.
To convert I used the free tool Disk2vhd.
It is very easy to use. Simply run on the machine you want to virtualize. We will show the hard drives you have, and we select that we want to become virtual. In my case, I wanted to virtualize in VirtualBox, I had to do it in VHD format. To this we must turn off the check of VHDXBecause with that format VirtualBox I did not recognize the hard disk. You can create the VHD file on the same hard we will virtualize if we have enough space. The process can take several hours depending on disk size.
Once the virtual disk has been created, you have to add to our virtual machine VirtualBox as we can see in the picture below.
Select the disk drive VHD we have created.
And it will be installed on the virtual machine. Now only will start the machine and run like the physical machine.
